Two things to hold onto. Charley Crockett closes SummerStage on Thursday — the last show of 2026, on what should be an 80° evening. And next Saturday the Conservancy takes families into the North Woods for City of Forest Day, which is the best thing on the calendar for anyone with a child and a free morning.

Weather this week

Monday is wet at 65° and 80% rain. Then it clears completely: Tuesday 71°, Wednesday 74°, Thursday 80°, Friday 78°, all mostly sunny. Saturday eases to 71° with a 21% chance. Five clear days after a month of damp weekends.

Mon Sep 28, 5–7 PM — rock’n’roll at the Bandshell

New York Rock’n’roll at Bandshell Plaza, and the only thing booked in the park. 80% rain, so pack accordingly — or wait a day.

Tue Sep 29 – Wed Sep 30 — busking, a serenade, and a starlight dinner

Tuesday clears to 71°: Busking at the Bandshell 1–3 PM. Bowling Green closes all day for maintenance.

Wednesday is 74° and sunny with three evening gatherings — a 25th Anniversary at Hernshead 5–7 PM, Serenade at Bandshell Plaza 6–7 PM, and a Starlight Dinner at Minton Arcade 6–9 PM.

The Bandshell is carrying the music calendar now: five separate bookings there this week, as Rumsey winds down.

Thu Oct 1, 7–10 PM — Charley Crockett closes the season

Charley Crockett plays Rumsey Playfield with Durand Jones and the Indications — the final SummerStage show of 2026. The series is dark after Thursday and does not return until May 2027. If you have been meaning to catch one, this is the last chance for seven months, and it lands on an 80° evening.

A Central Park Conservancy Birding Event meets at the Swedish Cottage 9–11 AM the same morning.

Fri Oct 2, 3–7 PM — four hours of free music

Free Community Music Live at Bandshell Plaza, 78° and sunny. Birding Basics at Belvedere at 10, the Iconic Views tour at 2.

Sat Oct 3 — City of Forest Day

Wonder in the Woods — the Conservancy’s City of Forest Day — is a family morning of discovery in Central Park’s North Woods, from 10 AM at Gottesman Pool at the Davis Center, with a second session at Arsenal Plaza 11 AM–2 PM. The North Woods is the wildest part of the park and the least visited; a guided October morning there is worth rearranging a Saturday for.

  Kingman Classic Singles Tournament on Bowling Green, 10 AM–4 PM — lawn bowls, the second tournament there in two weeks.
  Model Yacht Racing at Kerbs Boathouse, 9 AM–3 PM.

  Bird Watching with Birding Bob — five mornings from Strawberry Fields.
  211 field permits — 91 at Heckscher, 89 at North Meadow, 21 on the tennis courts, and none at all on the Great Lawn.
