Central Park Sports: Sat Jun 13 – Fri Jun 19
Central Park Sports — Sat Jun 13 – Fri Jun 19
Sports fans — apologies for the late drop; this usually lands Friday night and slipped to Saturday. Big competition weekend: the Central Park 5K Saturday morning, the CRCA crit on East Drive Sunday at dawn, plus the NY State Golf Croquet Championship wrapping Saturday and Model Yacht Racing on Conservatory Water. Baseball and softball leagues run all week; the cool midweek air is a gift for field play.
Weather this week
89°F Saturday, 88°F Sunday, 79°F Monday, 79°F Tuesday, 78°F Wednesday, 85°F Thursday (thunderstorms likely), 85°F Friday. Hot weekend, then a beautiful upper-70s window Monday–Wednesday for extended field sessions; Thursday’s thunderstorms will wash out evening games.
Sat 6/13 — Central Park 5K, Croquet finale, Model Yacht Racing, full league slate
2026 Central Park 5K stages on the 102nd Street Cross Drive at 9 AM. NY State Golf Croquet Championship final day at Bowling Green Lawn (9 AM–3 PM) is worth watching — croquet at competitive pace — with Primavera Pairs on the same green. Model Yacht Racing at Kerbs Boathouse (9 AM–3 PM): fast, compact RC-sailboat racing on Conservatory Water. Kickball, adult softball, and Little League baseball (12U and 13+) run across Heckscher Fields and the Great Lawn diamonds. East Meadow closed all day.
Sun 6/14 — CRCA crit on East Drive 5:30 AM; leagues continue
CRCA Central Park Racing Series races East Drive from 5:30 AM — fast club crit racing on the loop, fun to watch at the 72nd–90th Street stretch before the heat. Note the Puerto Rican Day Parade takes the east side later in the morning, so get your spectating in early. Adult softball and Little League baseball run across Heckscher and the Great Lawn complex; East Meadow closure carries over.
Mon 6/15 — 79°F: full field availability
CP Sports Summer Program opens for the week (two field slots daily, one morning, one afternoon, through Thursday). Adult softball and baseball resume. The best field-play weather in weeks — 79°F and dry — so extended sessions are comfortable all day.
Tue 6/16 — Bowling Greens closed for maintenance
Bowling Greens closed all day. If you had a lawn-bowling or croquet booking, it’s out. Adult softball, baseball, and kickball are unaffected on Heckscher and the Great Lawn diamonds. Another 79°F day — ideal.
Wed 6/17 — 78°F, CP Sports midweek
CP Sports Summer Program at two slots; adult softball, baseball, kickball continuing. Coolest day of the week for play, though late-afternoon showers are possible — get games in by mid-afternoon.
Thu 6/18 — 85°F, thunderstorms likely
Thunderstorms are the forecast — expect evening leagues to be called. Morning field windows may hold; check before you head out. Columbus Circle Food Market is operating for provisions.
Fri 6/19 — Leagues continue; Bowling Greens reopen (confirm); Juneteenth on West Drive
Adult softball and baseball across Heckscher and the Great Lawn diamonds. Bowling Greens maintenance should be complete — confirm if you have a booking. Juneteenth in Seneca Village (1–3 PM, West Drive / Hunters’ Gate) is up on the west side and doesn’t touch the eastern and southern fields.
