Central Park Sports: Sat Jun 13 – Fri Jun 19
Central Park Sports — Sat Jun 13 – Fri Jun 19
Sports fans — the NY State Golf Croquet Championship wraps up Saturday at Bowling Green Lawn, baseball and softball leagues run all week across Heckscher Fields and the Great Lawn diamonds, and Model Yacht Racing returns to Conservatory Water Saturday. Tuesday’s Bowling Greens maintenance closure is the one scheduling conflict. East Meadow sits out Saturday and Sunday.
Weather this week
88°F Saturday, 84°F Sunday, 82°F Monday, 85°F Tuesday, 89°F Wednesday, 91°F Thursday, 87°F Friday. Early-morning field time is essential from Wednesday onward.
Sat 6/13 — Croquet Championship finale, Model Yacht Racing, baseball and softball across all fields
NY State Golf Croquet Championship final day at Bowling Green Lawn, 9 AM–3 PM — a serious competition worth watching if you’ve never seen croquet played at pace. Simultaneously, Primavera Pairs also at Bowling Green. Model Yacht Racing at Kerbs Boathouse (Conservatory Water), 9 AM–3 PM — remote-controlled racing sailboats; compact and fast. Kickball, adult softball, and baseball (12-and-under and 13-and-older Little League) are all running across Heckscher Fields and the Great Lawn diamonds. East Meadow closed all day.
Sun 6/14 — Baseball and softball leagues continue, East Meadow still closed
Adult softball and Little League baseball running across the fields. East Meadow closure carries over — all field activity is on Heckscher and the Great Lawn complex. No special sporting events; straightforward league day.
Mon 6/15 — 82°F: full field availability
CP Sports Summer Program opens for the week (through June 18 at two field slots per day — one morning, one afternoon). Adult softball and baseball resume. Best weather of the week for extended field sessions.
Tue 6/16 — Bowling Greens closed for maintenance
Bowling Greens closed all day for scheduled maintenance. If you had a lawn bowling booking, it’s out. Adult softball, baseball, and kickball are unaffected — Heckscher Fields and Great Lawn diamonds are available.
Wed 6/17 — 89°F, CP Sports Summer Program midweek
CP Sports Summer Program running at two slots. Adult softball, baseball, and kickball continuing. 89°F means early-morning or evening field time only for comfortable play.
Thu 6/18 — 91°F, adult softball at Heckscher
91°F. Adult softball is on the schedule. Pre-dawn warmup only; game-time in early morning if it’s a weekend league carry-over, or accept the heat if it’s a scheduled evening game. Columbus Circle Food Market is operating for pre-game or post-game provisions.
Fri 6/19 — Baseball and softball leagues, Bowling Greens reopen (confirm), Juneteenth on West Drive 1–3 PM
Adult softball and baseball running across Heckscher and Great Lawn diamonds. Bowling Greens maintenance should be complete — confirm availability if you have a booking. Juneteenth in Seneca Village (1–3 PM, West Drive) runs near the upper west side but does not conflict with the eastern and southern playing fields.
