Central Park Music: Sat Jun 13 – Fri Jun 19
Central Park Music — Sat Jun 13 – Fri Jun 19
Music fans — the Martinez Brothers headline SummerStage Saturday and the week stays active through Friday. A Cappella in the Park, Tango at the Shakespeare Statue, International Folk Dancers, and an ongoing SummerStage festival footprint round out a full week. Heat is a factor every day after Monday.
Weather this week
88°F Saturday, 84°F Sunday, 82°F Monday, 85°F Tuesday, 89°F Wednesday, 91°F Thursday, 87°F Friday. Go early for outdoor comfort; the evening shows are the exception — the heat fades after sunset.
Sat 6/13 — Martinez Brothers at SummerStage (ticketed), A Cappella, Tango
The headliner: The Martinez Brothers / Wakyin / Luna Mar at Rumsey Playfield, 6–10 PM. Ticketed. Bronx house-music legends — if you have tickets, arrive by 5:30 PM to clear the crowd at the 72nd Street entrance. During the day, A Cappella in the Park runs 1–5 PM at King Jagiello Plaza — free, no ticket required. At 6 PM, Tango at the Shakespeare Statue Plaza (6–9 PM) offers an outdoor dance alternative if the Rumsey show is sold out. Julius Caesar at The Pool Lawns (5–10 PM) includes live staging — theatrical rather than concert, but the atmosphere is worth the walk.
Sun 6/14 — International Folk Dancers, King Jagiello Plaza (11 AM–9 PM)
Central Park International Folk Dancers return to King Jagiello Plaza for a long session, 11 AM–9 PM. Free, participatory, and reliably eclectic — anything from Greek circle dances to Balkan sets. BBBC Book Exchange at Great Lawn SW Lawn (5–7 PM) is quiet ambient backdrop if you’re already in the area.
Mon 6/15 — SummerStage Festival operating
SummerStage Festival footprint is active at Rumsey Playfield and Bandshell Plaza. Check the SummerStage schedule for confirmed acts — the festival permit runs 8 AM–midnight. 82°F and the best weather of the week.
Tue 6/16 — 40-in-Focus Opening Reception (Arsenal, free, 6–8 PM)
The Opening Reception for 40 in Focus: SummerStage through the Lens of Photographer Jack Vartoogian runs 6–8 PM at the Arsenal. Free entry. The exhibit covers 40 years of SummerStage photography — it’s a music history document as much as an art show. SummerStage Festival continues at Rumsey. Julius Caesar at The Pool Lawns from 5 PM.
Wed 6/17 — SummerStage Festival
SummerStage Festival running again. Wellness at the Park (9 AM–1 PM) is quiet but off the concert circuit. Evening: Julius Caesar at The Pool (5–10 PM). Heat peaks at 89°F; aim for evening shows.
Thu 6/18 — SummerStage Festival, 91°F
SummerStage Festival at Rumsey Playfield. Julius Caesar continues. 91°F makes afternoon arrivals uncomfortable — arrive as close to showtime as possible and stay in shade.
Fri 6/19 — SummerStage Festival, Juneteenth
SummerStage Festival closing out the week. Juneteenth in Seneca Village (1–3 PM, West Drive) may include live cultural performances — worth checking the event listing for programming details. Julius Caesar at The Pool (5–10 PM), final night of the run if the schedule holds.
