Central Park Music & Performance: Sat Jun 6 – Fri Jun 12
Central Park Music & Performance — Sat Jun 6 – Fri Jun 12
Hey music fans — six consecutive days of evening music. Naumburg Tuesday, NY Phil Wednesday, Yellowcard Thursday, Carlos Konig Salsa Friday, Sing for Hope choir Saturday, and Tango at the Shakespeare Statue Saturday evening. Stack the week.
Weather this week
93°F Saturday, 87°F Sunday, 79°F Monday, 85°F Tuesday, 90°F Wednesday, 92°F Thursday and Friday. All the week’s key music events are evening-slotted (7–10 PM range), which keeps you in survivable conditions. Saturday night carries a chance of thunderstorms — bring a light layer to the Tango.
Sat 6/6 — Sing for Hope Choir Fest + Tango at Shakespeare Statue (93°F)
- Sing for Hope Choir Fest at The Dairy, 12–3 PM — free choral ensembles in the Dairy’s shaded courtyard.
- Tango at the Shakespeare Statue, 6–9 PM — outdoor tango dancing at Shakespeare Statue Plaza. The worst of the 93°F heat passes by 6 PM; this is the Saturday evening scene.
The Mastercard Mini 10K runs East Drive 8–10:30 AM — race energy, not a music event, but the park has momentum from the morning.
Sun 6/7 — International Folk Dancers (87°F)
No major music events Sunday. The Central Park International Folk Dancers hold their weekly gathering Sunday afternoon at the east-side band circle. Julius Caesar at The Pool Lawns (5–10 PM) if you want outdoor performance.
Mon 6/8 — DJ Ali 4-Hour Central Park Rave at Bandshell Plaza (3–7 PM, 79°F)
DJ Ali holds a 4-hour set at Bandshell Plaza, 3–7 PM. 79°F and sunny — an unusually pleasant outdoor rave day. Arrive by 2:30 PM for a front-of-lawn position.
Tue 6/9 — Naumburg: Baroklyn, Simone Dinnerstein & CONCORA (7:30 PM)
The event of the week for classical listeners: Baroklyn, Simone Dinnerstein & CONCORA choir at the Naumburg Bandshell, 7:30 PM, free. Baroklyn performs on period instruments; Simone Dinnerstein is one of the most compelling pianists working today. The 121st Naumburg season knows how to open its June run. Arrive by 7 PM; bring a blanket.
Wed 6/10 — NY Philharmonic at the Great Lawn (8 PM)
New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks at the Great Lawn, 8 PM, free. One of the summer’s largest free music events in New York — get there early (5–6 PM) to claim a spot on the lawn. 90°F day means the afternoon wait is warm; bring water and shade gear.
Thu 6/11 — Yellowcard / New Found Glory / Plain White T’s at SummerStage (6–10 PM, ticketed)
Yellowcard headlines Rumsey Playfield Thursday evening. For anyone who came up on early-2000s alt-rock and emo, this bill — Yellowcard, New Found Glory, Plain White T’s — is the one. “Ocean Avenue” found a new TikTok generation; the Rumsey crowd will be intergenerational. Check cityparksfoundation.org for tickets.
Fri 6/12 — Carlos Konig Salsa at Bandshell Plaza (5–8 PM)
Carlos Konig Salsa at Bandshell Plaza, 5–8 PM — a Friday salsa social to close the week. Carlos Konig is a fixture of the New York Latin music scene. Come to dance or just to listen; the Bandshell lawn fills up on Friday evenings. Julius Caesar also runs at The Pool Lawns (5–10 PM) if you want to catch the final run of that production.
