Julius Caesar continues + week ahead: Fri May 15 – Fri May 22

Hey theater fans,

New Friday-evening edition. Julius Caesar at The Pool is running through May 30 — and the next show in the same space is already on the calendar after it. Here’s the week.

Julius Caesar — still running daily

Daily 10 AM–9 PM at The Pool Lawns (100th–103rd, just inside CPW). The production extends through Sat May 30. Check the company’s listing for actual showtimes within that daily window.

If you’ve been putting it off, this weekend is a strong choice — weeknights are calmer than the upcoming Memorial Day weekend will be.

A reminder of the practicalities:

• Sightlines: north and east lawns, looking south across the pond
• Golden hour: ~7:30–8 PM is when the staging is most striking
• Layers: it cools fast at The Pool once the sun drops behind the trees
• Walk-up seating: get there 30+ min early on Saturdays

What follows — a second Julius Caesar production

The events calendar shows “Julius Caesar 2 of 2” running Tue Jun 2 – Wed Jun 10 at The Pool. Same location, presumably either a second cast/troupe or a continuation. Worth flagging for your June calendar — we’ll have more detail in the next email or two.

Other theatrical happenings this week

• Sat May 16, 1–5 PM — That Guitar Man at Hernshead. Solo performance, very much a park-ritual act. Closer to theater-as-place than theater-as-script.
• Sun May 17, 11 AM–7 PM — Folkdancers at King Jagiallo Plaza. Costumed dance with live music; physical, traditional performance.

Looking ahead

• May 28–30 — Barefoot Shakespeare opens at the Bandshell
• Jun 2–10 — Julius Caesar production #2 at The Pool
• The Delacorte Theater’s main Shakespeare in the Park season usually kicks off in early June — worth watching the Public Theater’s calendar
