Central Park Sports This Week: Fri May 15 – Fri May 22

Hey sports fans,

New Friday-evening edition heading into the weekend. One bike race, model yachts, and the usual league baseball action. Here’s the week.

Sat May 16, 4–8:30 AM — CRCA Racing

CRCA Central Park Racing Series crit on East Drive. Saturday-morning bike racing is back as a weekly fixture. Posts up east of 72nd are best — riders coming through fast. Get coffee around 6, watch 4–5 laps, you’re done by breakfast. The most accessible elite-amateur cycling in NYC.

Sat May 16 — multiple sports + spectacle

• Model Yacht Racing at Kerbs Boathouse, 9 AM–3 PM. Central Park Model Yacht Club’s regular Saturday race day. Conservatory Water with remote-controlled sailboats — old-school NYC park ritual.
• Heckscher Fields adult softball (-01, -02, -05) running through the day
• North Meadow adult & Little League baseball — fields 1–6 active 8 AM to evening

Sat–Sun — Little League weekend

Standard spring weekend pattern across Great Lawn Softball fields 1–8 and North Meadow Baseball/Softball. Most fields active 8 AM through late afternoon both days. If you like wandering between games, this is the best Saturday format — multiple games running in parallel.

Sun May 17 — Heckscher softball + tennis

Heckscher Fields running adult softball through the morning. No big race or special sports event Sunday.

Mon–Fri weekday sports

• Daily youth soccer training at Lawn North of Levin Playground (James Christie sessions, mid-morning and afternoon)
• Adult/youth softball and baseball at North Meadow evenings
• Heckscher youth soccer/football weekday evenings

Bowling Green note

The lawn bowling green is closed today (Fri 5/15) until 2 PM for maintenance. Open after that and the rest of the week.
