Julius Caesar enters Week 2 at The Pool: May 10–16
Hey theater fans,
Julius Caesar is in its second week at The Pool, and this is the one to plan a night around. Here’s what’s on.
Still running — Julius Caesar at The Pool
Daily through Sun May 19, 10 AM–9 PM at The Pool Lawns (100th–103rd, west side, just inside the park from CPW). Bring a blanket. The long daily window covers production setup, tech, rehearsal, and performance — check the company’s listing for actual show times.
A few late-arriver notes if you haven’t been yet:
- Sightlines are best from the north and east lawns, looking south across the water
- Get there 30+ min early on weekend evenings; the lawn fills up
- The light is best around 7:30–8 PM — golden-hour staging when the show is in full swing
- It cools off quickly at The Pool once the sun drops below the western tree line — layers
Sun May 10 — Folkdance theater + Mother’s Day
Central Park International Folkdancers at King Jagiallo Plaza, 11 AM–7 PM. Costumed performance with live music — closer to dance theater than concert. If you like physical, traditional performance, drop in.
Mother’s Day means Bow Bridge, Bethesda, Belvedere Castle Terrace, Cop Cot all have stacked private ceremonies. Less theater, more pageantry — but worth a wander if you’re nearby.
Wed May 13 — Bill Popp at Bandshell
Not theater proper, but Bill Popp and the Tapes at Bandshell, 5–7 PM — veteran NYC indie rock outfit, evening Bandshell vibes. Pair with a 7:30 PM walk to The Pool for Julius Caesar if you want a full Wednesday-night plan.
Looking ahead
- Barefoot Shakespeare opens at the Bandshell May 28–30 — we’ll cover closer to the date
- Watch The Pool after May 19 to see if another production claims the space
